WALL OF FAME

Nomination Guidelines

Nominations into the Leominster High School Athletics Hall of Fame shall consist of:

  1. Athletes or Athletic Teams (as recognized by the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association).
  2. Coaches
  3. Contributors to Leominster High School Athletics

The nomination will be considered with respect to the following criteria:

    • Athletes: Graduate of Leominster High School (consideration will then be given to those that meet the requirements of Article IV)– Alumnus/Alumna for minimum of 10 years.
    • Teams: The team must be at least 10 years post achievement eligible for nomination.
  1. Non-Athletes:
    1. Coaches
      • – Retired from coaching for minimum of 5 years
      • – Years of service
      • – Contributions
      • – Leadership
    2. Contributors
      • – At least 5-year history of supporting LHS Athletics
      • – Commitment to making LHS athletics a better program through financial or other contributions, volunteering or being a director of an organization that benefit LHS athletics or the LHSAHOF
      • – Community contributor
      • – Respected by the community and or local leadership

Nominees will be evaluated on the following criteria:

  • – Sportsmanship
  • – Honors or recognition
  • – Integrity
  • – Playing ability
  • – Character
  • – Achievements
  • – Contributions to LHS athletics

Submittal Information

The LHS Athletic Hall of Fame executive board members and committees will consider the following criteria to recognize and honor outstanding achievements of individual athletes, coaches, teams and friends who have contributed to the success, tradition, integrity, development and promotion of Leominster High School athletics.

Information to be submitted by the Athlete or Nominating individual

Please submit any documentation in the following categories:

  1. LHS sports participation
  2. LHS varsity letters earned (per eligible years 3 vs 4-year school)
  3. LHS team achievements
  4. LHS individual honors (State, Central Mass Conference All Star, Telegram  Gazette All Star)
  5. Community Contributions and academic achievements
  6. Post high school recognition (College teams participated on, State, National or International, Semi-pro, Pro). Should only be used if athlete was outstanding at the high school level; cannot be the only reason for membership. Should not be considered as a primary reason for induction.
  7. Pre high school achievements in other school related sports cannot be the only reason for membership only supporting material.

Athletes: Awards (Leominster High School related Athletics only)

  1. Varsity letter (year/sport)/3*number of school years attended
  2. Scholar awards granted (i.e. National Honor Society)
  3. Captain of team (sport/year) other team members considered a leader of the team
  4. Other individual honors (i.e. MVP, Coaches award, Senior athlete award, community awards, newspaper awards)
  5. School record/ Milestone (i.e. School record/milestone)

Athletes Honors: (Leominster High School related athletics only)

  1. Conference All Star 1st team
  2. Any state news publication all Star 1st Team
  3. District MVP, League MVP
  4. State Champion
  5. District Champion
  6. League Champion
  7. Post high school sports participated in/coached/all levels (sport/year)
  8. Honors given by civic organizations to athletes across the local, region or state.
Coaching Information to be provided
The hall of fame executive board members will look at the following areas for the coach nominees.

  1. Years of service at LHS (Head coach, Assistant Coach, Volunteer Coach)
  2. Individual Honors: (Coach of the year)
  3. Community service as an LHS Coach

Coach: LHS

  1. LHS Head Coach (year/sport)
  2. LHS Assistant Coach (year/sport)
  3. Camps/Clinics/Community Service Events Developed/Instituted

Coach Team Awards:

  1. Playoff berth
  2. Central Mass Conference League Champions
  3. District Championship
  4. State Championship
  5. State Runner-Up

Coach Individual Honors:

  1. Coach of the year/State or National Hall of Fame
  2. Recognition given to the coach by the media
  3. Recognition given to the coach by the athletes
Contributor Information to be provided
The Hall of Fame executive board members will look at the following areas for the contributor nominees.  This special category which honors those who through devotion and support of athletic teams have brought positive recognition to the athletics program at LHS as well as the Leominster community.

  1. Years of service to the Leominster community (per year) per organization
  2. Programs developed
  3. Board member of an LHS organization that supports Leominster Athletics
  4. Camps/Clinics/Community service events developed/instituted
  5. Community contributions to Leominster Athletes or Athletics through financial support or community discounts.
  6. Significant financial contribution to Leominster Athletic programs
