Michael Marchand – 2015

  • Graduate of Leominster High School – Class of 1968
  • Started playing baseball at 4 yrs old in Fitchburg for Gus Johnson
  • At 7 years of age, he started pitching for Leominster National Little League
  • TAG at Babe Ruth
  • Leominster High School – greatly influenced by, in his words, “The BEST baseball coach in the nation”, Emile Johnson
  • His High School era was an amazing .076
  • His Senior year the LHS Baseball Team had a 19-0 record before losing late in the Play-Offs

  • Attended Mount Wachusett Community
  • Scouted by the Boston Red Sox, Oakland As’ and Braves
  • 1970 Selected to the Record American Team – pitched in Fenway Park, facing Carlton Fisk 

 

  • Played for 3 years in a Braves’ sponsored East Coast Team
  • When he was offered a good position at the Foster Grant Company, using his college skills, he chose to support his family and took the job. But, “never gave up his love for baseball
